These theories (tools) simply encourage us to become intimate with ourselves …

… and hence, a meeting of our human needs… and when they are not met, knowing our options!

NVC (Non-Violent Communication)

Marshall Rosenberg’s NVC brings in a language encompassing observations, feelings, needs, and requests, that enable conversations that encourage listening and speaking with clear communication minus the blame.

NVC explores the danger of rewarding and punishing to change unwanted behaviour.

What if we could drop the idea of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’… and just see behaviour as a language that is wanting to say something?

“I’ve never seen a stupid kid;
I’ve seen a kid who sometimes did
things I didn’t understand
Or things in ways, I hadn’t planned;
I’ve seen a kid who hadn’t seen
the same places where I had been,
But he was not a stupid kid.
Before you call him stupid,
think, was he a stupid kid or did he just
know different things than you did?”

The Work of Byron Katie

The Work gives us a tool to question everything we think about others and ourselves. Through this style, we get to hear how we react with any given thought, look at the treatment we dish out to others and to ourselves, and to almost put a halt to our thinking that creates hurt or pain .. and consider what it might feel like to drop that belief.

This powerful tool gives a chance to acknowledge, to hear, then to open up to a different way to see the world.

The Queens Code

… a book written by Alison Armstrong.

The concepts Alison raises, gives rise to understanding and appreciating the difference between male and female.

The Queens Code brings awareness to the impact of how females emasculate males and how males objectify females….. and how the two dance constantly with each other, bringing continuous pain and disconnection.

Alison shares the idea that, behind every action there is actually a good reason.

Through our initiatives, we offer space to hear the “good reason”.

This then offers connection, understanding and empathy.

Dr. Gabor Mate

Dr. Gabor speaks into what he has noticed around physical and mental illness – through being a curious doctor and his own personal journey growing up in wartime.

His journey has brought him to the awareness that in infancy we have two non-negotiable needs – attachment & authenticity.

If these are not met, it sits in us as trauma and plays out in our life, until we face it.

Gabor acknowledges the essence to opening up the possibility of transformation, lies in …..

  1. Meeting people where they are at
  2. Treating people like a human being and how we would like to be treated – with kindness and curiosity
  3. Never trying to change the other person

Brene Brown speaks into the power of vulnerability.

The willingness to be real and authentic with what is actually going on for oneself – especially the adult being willing to do this even in front of their students, their children, their employees, their clients!

The power in this lies in showing other people that they are not alone in their feelings and that all feelings are part of being human. We do not have to be scared of these feelings!

Being able to “hold” another in their vulnerable moment, brings insurmountable trust.

BREATHWORK including “FEEL TO HEAL” (Giten Tonkov) and EMOTIONAL RELEASE WORK.

How can any of us go into stillness within (which includes sitting still in a classroom ready to learn?) if we are fully alive with annoyance, being scared, sadness or even sheer joy – from before school, recess or lunchtime?

Emotional acknowledgement and release work is an essential part of healing and reaching stillness. Without this, either one of 2 things happen:

  1. suppression of feelings

or

  1. behaviour crying out for attention.

Our breath brings us back to ourselves. Our bodies. No need to be scared of the feelings in our body. Bringing awareness to our breath, brings an awareness of our heart and stills the mind.

Earthing, Grounding and Nature are essential elements to filling up one’s “self-love tank”. The gift of this includes…

  1. Acceptance from nature of what is alive in us right now. To experience just being, without judgement
  2. The process of Photosynthesis that trees give us and its relevance with our release work
  3. Calm and rebuilding from a nurturing fun place that we can give to ourselves any time, anywhere

Intuition and how we make decisions from 2 places – our heads or our hearts. How much have we shut down our intuitive self and allowed the head to be the ‘boss’? This is the trust element.
